4 Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and [a]shaved them, and cut off their [b]garments by the half unto the buttocks, and sent them away.
5 And there went certain and told David concerning the men: and he sent to meet them (for the men were exceedingly ashamed) and the King said, Tarry at Jericho, until your beards be grown: then return.
6 ¶ When the children of Ammon saw that they [c]stank in the sight of David, then sent Hanun and the children of Ammon a thousand talents of silver, to hire them chariots and horsemen out (A)of Aram Naharaim, and out of Aram Maacah, and out of [d]Zobah.
